Ganymede (I’ll make you a star)

Pretty boy pretty boy, fill my cup
Fill my cup with the wine of love
Let me drink till my heart overflows
Pretty boy pretty boy, fill my cup

I will take you to paradise
I’ll take you to the stars above
Death will never catch you, you’ll be a star

Forever by my side boy, fill my cup
Pretty boy pretty boy, fill my heart

In Greek mythology, Ganymede, the most beautiful of mortals and a shepherd boy was abducted by Zeus in the form of an eagle. He was transported to Olympus by the god- eagle, where all the gods were filled with joy to see the youth, except Hera (Zeus’ wife) who was jealous of the love between them.
In Olympus, he was granted eternal youth and made cupbearer to the gods. Zeus (god of lightning and thunder) later put Ganymede in the sky as the constellation Aquarius, which is associated with that of the Eagle (Aquila).

This myth was a model for the ancient Greek social custom of paiderastía, the socially acceptable erotic relationship between a man and a youth.

Thunderbird is a supernatural sacred bird of power and strength, among the peoples of the American Southwest, Great Lakes, and Great Plains, and in Pacific Northwest Coast cultures.

When Thunderbird flies, the beating of its enormous wings causes thunder and the light flashing from its eyes is lightning. Thunderbirds may take human form and marry mortals.

I’ve lived in Istanbul and New York, have traveled through Europe and North Africa, and now live in a natural paradise among the floating clouds and many colored birds, butterflies and flowers of Panama with my soul-mate and our 4 year old boy child.
Aside from my art work, I’ve worked designing clothes and accessories, theater costumes and sets, and as a stylist.
In my artwork, I retell mythologies and fairy tales. Performance, video, installation, mechanical sculptures, and tapestries are my preferred media/genres. Fabric, doll parts, motors and mechanical toys, along with dead animal parts are my favorite materials.
